chargEV launches largest AC charging hub at iconic Menara Merdeka 118

Yinson GreenTech, through its electric vehicle (EV) charging business chargEV, in collaboration with PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn. Berhad (PNBMV), officially launches the largest AC charging hub consisting of 32 charging bays at the iconic Menara Merdeka 118.

The collaboration, officially launched by PNBMV Chief Executive Officer, Dato' Ir. Ts. Izwan Ibrahim and Yinson GreenTech Chief Executive Officer, Louisa Brady, brings together infrastructure, location and ecosystem capabilities to deliver a seamless, high-density urban charging experience in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

The partnership builds on a shared commitment to make e-mobility more accessible within everyday urban spaces. For Merdeka 118, this means working with a charging partner that can support both the scale of the destination and the expectations of its tenants, visitors and the wider community. With chargEV’s track record in operating one of Malaysia’s established EV charging networks, supported by its chargEV app and on-ground operational experience, the 22kW chargers offer a practical and reliable charging solution to a landmark development designed for a sustainable future.

Louisa Brady, Chief Executive Officer of Yinson GreenTech said, “chargEV is pleased to collaborate with PNBMV in driving sustainable infrastructure solutions for all Malaysians. Our mission is to make EV charging easily accessible and convenient at important locations where people live, work and unwind. With a total of 32 charging bays at Menara Merdeka 118, our chargEV chargers not only represent one of the largest single AC charging hubs in the country, but they are also designed to improve reliability, accessibility and enhance the charging experience for EV users.”

Dato' Ir Ts Izwan Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of PNBMV commented, “Merdeka 118 is developed as a future-ready, highly accessible destination that reflects Malaysia’s progress, ambition and capacity to support the needs of a modern, sustainable urban community. As the location and infrastructure anchor, we have integrated EV charging infrastructure within the development to support evolving mobility needs, ensuring the tower and its surrounding ecosystem remain relevant, connected and equipped for the future.”

The next phase will see chargEV introducing DC chargers at the upcoming 118 shopping mall, slated to open in August 2026 and adjacent to the Merdeka 118 tower, further improving the EV charging experience for users who require faster charging speeds.
